I don't have much time so this will be just a quick "drive by" blog. Muahaha.

Life is good. School is good. I worked a lot last week, thus I'm catching up on school work and preparing for midterms this week.

I guess that's about it. I told you it would be "drive by."

Nose back to the 'ole grindstone

Last week was amazing. I had a blast practicing and performing in the drama. We had a full house on Friday night (I think it was about 150 people?). The audience energetically enjoyed the drama. We fed off of that energy. It was so much fun. During one of the scenes, I confused my lines. I was supposed to say, "I cannot pick therefore I cannot cook!" Instead I said, "I cannot cook therefore...this is bad!" At which the whole cast (most of which were on stage for this scene) had to restrain themselves from breaking character and laughing. But the audience didn't know. haha. Saturday night was good as well. We couldn't help but laugh at the difference in the atmosphere between Thursday night (dress rehearsal open to the student body) and Saturday night (final performance). Thursday night, many of us could be seen pacing around mumbling our lines over and over. Saturday night most of us were completely relaxed and weren't even thinking about our lines. Leiah, one of my friends from work, came to both of our performances. She also hung out with the cast at our house on Friday night after the drama. That was really fun. Krista and I are enjoying the sense of having a group of friends to hang out with.

Well, it's back to the old grindstone now however. Whereas I had 7 consecutive days off of work last week, I now have 7 consecutive days of work this week. I'm glad. They ask me to cover for some one and I say "thank you." I really like my new night manager. Communication is a lot better. He even checks to make sure I can work the days he schedules before completing the schedule. I'm sure that once we all get into a routine, he'll fell more confident and not check every week. But man...what a difference. lol.I've requested to start getting Tuesday and Thursday nights off. That way I can get more involved with Chapel worship teams. We shall see. I met my new general manager today. He seems nice. The morning crew is struggling with the change. One lady quit last week. Anyways...all is well for me.I received notice today that I am a finalist for the Glen Bell Scholarship (Taco Bell scholarship). I won't know if I actually got it until mid-June.

School is good. I have some fun classes and some intimidating classes this term. The funnest part about this term is that Katie Miller has every single one of my classes with me. She is also in my small group. It's a good thing we like each other. We are enjoying knowing exactly what homework the other has.

Krista has started looking for another church. We've struggled with feeling like we aren't connecting at our church. It's a great church and the people are welcoming. Something just hasn't clicked. We wanted a family church because we didn't want to isolate ourselves to college age people all of the time. However, it would be nice attend a church that has a college age ministry. Also I think it would be nice to attend some where closer to home. Maybe that way we could be more socially involved with the life of the church. We shall see. I think that I'm not going to leave our current church until the end of the school year because I am teaching a Sunday School class. I spoke with Pastor Dan about this. He supports whatever I decide to do.More thinking and praying are in order.

I'm also trying to figure out what to do about my internship. I've been talking with the pregnancy center. They can't invest the resources in training me to work with clients or be the receptionist. But they are more than happy to put me to work in fund raiser planning and PR. I'm not sure what to do. I would be exposed to the issues and would probably learn a lot. I don't even know what else to do that would be interesting. I need to pray about this as well.

I think that's the gist of what is going on in the life of Bre. I will have to get some drama/make-up photos up soon. I love and miss you all!

Ok... ya'all are funny....I'm back....back in black and I aint taking no flack because I'm no quack....no, this aint Jack...my blog wasn't hacked...sorry for the lack of communication...seems I have a nack for packing my bags to the max...and I like to yack...wicky, wicky wa wa wak....ok ....sssoooooo....

Life is good. Life is full. Life is exhausting, but life is fun.
I just finished my last shift at work before the drama. Because of all the hours I worked over Spring break, I am able to take a whole week off in order to attend practices for and preform in the EBC drama. I am rather excited. Not only because of the drama, but because I will have the week off of work. Work is going well. There are a lot of changes recently. I have a new night manager whom I really like. He's positive, encouraging, and energetic. Yesterday, he let me learn some of the food stuff. We've also hired two new service people. One is a 15 year old skater boy and the other is a freshman at Lane. We shall see how they mesh with the crew. With the new manager and hires, the night shift is becoming more ethnically balanced. Things are changing. Also, we are getting a new store manager. All of the store managers in the area have been at their stores for years. Thus corporate has decided to shake things up a bit and play "musical managers" on us. I think this will be good especially since I am already enjoying my new night manager.

As I have already mentioned, the drama is next week. We will be preforming a drama that Danell Bemis wrote based on the story of Joseph. There are fictional characters and scenarios added for comic relief. Krista and I are comic relief. Honestly, you should see my costume. I don't think that I'd even have to say anything to be amusing. My costume does it for me. I shall have to post pictures eventually. My character is the palace cook who thinks way too highly of herself, sees her job as an art, and has a flare for the dramatic. It's loads of fun. Krista is an eccentric gardener who is bent on protecting the bees from the King's counting of them. We end up butting heads and learning forgiveness (along with everyone else in the cast). We will be preforming for the student body on Thursday. We will also preform it on Friday and Saturday nights. Have I mentioned that we're excited? "Oh the joy!"

More changes are in store for EBC. Last Wednesday, the student body was informed that President Cole and his wife are resigning. They have not been asked to leave, but feel like God is telling them to. They are not sure what they are doing after this term. Julie Cole is Krista's life group leader whom Krista loves. I was blessed to take a class from Mrs. Cole this term and intend to enjoy her to the maximum. In addition to the Coles, EBC is letting go of more teachers. Among them is Ms. Kutz. Of all the changes, this one I least like. I went to talk with her after I heard, as I had heard it through the grape vine and wanted to verify it. She is facing this new season bravely, but one can tell that this is very hard for her. She has been here for 33 yrs. I can't imagine EBC without her and feel pity for future students who will be unable to enjoy her gift of teaching. I am so happy that I was able to have her as a teacher for every term this year and am going to soak in this last term as much as possible (I am in her Lit. class). She said that if I feel suffocated in class by her teaching, it will be because she is trying to pour everything possible out in this last term. This is hard. At the same time, it will be a blessing to be able to witness her strength and graciousness as she enters as new season. I am curious to see what new things God will lead this gifted woman to.

Well, I suppose that's the long and short of it. School is back in session. I am taking 16 credits this term and hoping to get a jump start on my "field experience" (ie internship). I'm in the process of arranging my field experience with the Lane Pregnancy Support Center. LPSC is a crisis pregnancy support center that is affiliated with Care Net. They are a smaller operation than what we had in Spokane, but they are looking to the future. I'm excited about this. It's still in process, but that's the direction I'm moving for my "field experience." I am taking Lit. II, Biology III, Research Skills, Marriage and Family, and Abnormal Psychology. BTW I have to write a research paper this term on an issue that the church is dealing with. I have to declare my topic on Monday. I am thinking that I want to research and write on church growth. Is there a problem? Should we be more seeker focused or disciple focused? What is happening with our children leaving the church as soon as they graduate? If you have any ideas of other topics or thoughts on the topic I'm working with....let me know.

Now for my second conclusion, I'd like to simply say to my family that I love ya'all and you are in my prayers....and I stinking miss ya'all!

Oregon Front Update

Life is good.

Work is good. I'm being trained on the drive through which is GREAT because it means I'll pick up more hours. I really like my 20 yr old manager...and I'm getting to know people better. I'm having a girl from the day shift over on Friday night to play Clue...I'm excited.

We're not sure if the SMC girls are going to make it down here. They're trying to figure it out. If they do, it'll be this week end.

We are starting to develop a social life. yay. It's been fun although I'm getting tired of being new. lol. Ya'all know how that goes.

The church has a food booth at the fair every year (the fair was last week.) So we volunteered to help out. It was fun and we did get to meet more people from the church. Also we got free tickets into the fair. Therefore, we enjoyed ourselves after our shift. There was a evangelistic booth which really impressed me. On the outside it said "Are you going to heaven? Two question test to find out." I was very excited to see that every time we walked by, each of the three evangelists was talking to someone...and not just the same people...but then the conversations looked in depth as well. It was awesome. I love to watch people with the gift of evangelism in action. I wish I were better at it. (Not that I excuse myself from the Great Commission because "it's not my gifting.") We were talking to Holly (SMC alumni) that evening. She was telling us that there is a ministry that sets up a booth at the fair (in some other city) advertising dream interpretation and positive words. They get all sorts of people in there. They don't pray or share the gospel they just speak positive and interpret dreams. However, when someone says "that was Jesus" or "I need to get my life right" or "I need to go back to church"...there is a evangelistic booth right next door that they direct these people to. It sounds like its an effective ministry.

I've gone to girls' prayer night at the Smiths twice now. I really enjoy it! Praying for discernment as to whether I'm supposed to be a part of this group. I think I'm going to.

Amy's baby shower was on Saturday. We went. It was good. The church is having a block party this next Saturday giving out backpacks and shoes. We've volunteered of course. We've also volunteered to start helping with Children's ministry. woo-hoo. I also want to do Big Brothers/Big Sisters again...
